Based on a Philip K. Dick short story, Spielberg’s wheeling, virtuoso science-fiction thriller stars Tom Cruise as an investigator of “PreCrime” who specializes in arresting criminals before they’ve done the deed in near-future Washington, DC. They’re still working on the jetpacks, but the film’s vision of a world run on touchscreens and bombarded with targeted advertising already looks frightfully prescient.
